CURRENT FAVOURITES: SKIN/HAIR CARE

Here’s a skincare breakdown from a skincare novice. Enjoy!
Alright, folks. I’ve been toying around with the idea of putting this post together for quite some time, but as a lot of you know, I’m not exactly big on beauty products. However, now that I’m nearing the end of my twenties (YIKES!) I’m starting to pay attention to taking care of my skin. If you’re a skincare noob like myself, here’s a list of what I use, in case you’re trying to get into skincare yourself. Oh, and some hair care stuff too, just for kicks.

For the sake of simplicity, I’m just going to list the products as they appear in the photo, from left to right.

Glossier Haloscope in “Quartz”: I own a few highlighters that I really like, but I feel like Haloscope is the best everyday highlighter, because it’s a bit subtle, and gives a natural glow.

OUAI Wave Spray: I often wear my hair in waves, and while I don’t like hairspray, I do find that this stuff holds my hair’s style, without feeling too stiff, which is great. Also, it smells good, too.

Chantecaille Rose Water: Full disclosure, this was a Christmas present, but I HAD been looking for a rose water spray for some time. Let me tell you, this shit is refreshing!

Glossier Mint Balm Dot Com: I’m always on the hunt for a good lip balm, and this stuff delivers! There are other scents, but I’m a big fan of mint, so that’s what I chose.

Loreal Micellar Water: While I do use cleansers, I am far more prone to using toners, because I like seeing the dirt actually come off my face. I found that micellar water is great because it’s gentle and effective. If you want to learn more about it, I wrote a piece HERE.

Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint: It’s matte red lipstick, it stays on without drying my lips—that’s all. Oh, and RIHANNA. Duh.

Aveeno Lotion: Just good to have, especially travel size.

Benefit Cosmetics “Ka-Brow”: This is one of two brow products I use. If you try it, use it sparingly, as it can get pretty pigmented real quick.

The Ordinary Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%: Because I know little to nothing about skincare, I went to the Deciem store and asked for something to brighten my skin, as I get little sleep and it tends to show on my skin. This is the moisturizer that was given to me. I only use it once a day, because counteracts the serum I use (more on that shortly).

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer: Great moisturizer, unscented, and doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily. Love it.

Kate Sommerville “EradiKate”I’ve used so many spot treatments before, including Proactiv, and this is my far, the best.

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes: Again, I don’t really use any face makeup, but when a girl’s been sleep deprived, a little under eye concealer really does the trick.

Glossier “Super Pure”: I bought this serum because of its description: “The niacinamide and zinc in Super Pure visibly soothe redness and help calm blemishes, respectively—especially useful during that time just before your period. Junk food and stress are other skin-disrupting triggers that Super Pure helps counteract. It gets troubled skin in check and flushes out impurities, including excess sebum that builds up inside pores.” It totally delivered, and I’ll definitely be needing a refill ASAP. (My bottle’s almost done!)

OUAI Smooth Spray: My heat styling-loving ass really needed some sort of protection from my straightener, and this baby does the trick.

Givenchy Mister Brow Filler: I have been dying to try Glossier’s Boy Brow for a hot minute, but since I got this bad boy for free, I thought that I’d finish it first, before trying something new. Also, this stuff does a great job of fluffing and defining my brows, so I’m not really in any rush to try something different.

And that’s all she wrote! Sorry if that was TL;DR.
