365 days of Pablo

On this day last year, Save Our Scruff flew in 8 puppies from Mexico, and this sweet boy made his way to Kane and I. He turned our lives (and our apartment) upside down, but having him around has truly been the greatest.

It’s difficult to imagine life before he arrived, when we had all of the free time, and just as difficult to remember puppy life, when he needed walks and bathroom breaks every 2-3 hours. Crate training is also a distant memory I will gladly forget, especially on that first night, when I had to sleep on a mattress next to his crate on the floor.

Now our days with our quirky boy are a little less stressful and a lot more fun. Pablo and Kane are best buds, and I’m not even sure that I’m a close second, but I’ve learned to be okay with that.

Pablo also loves a walk (although he will resist leaving the apartment EVERY SINGLE TIME), his many toys, treats—including ice cubes, apple slices, cheese, lettuce, bread, cucumbers, and carrots. However, we think he loves a good snooze above all.

We’re not sure if he’s aware of what’s happening with me, and how our lives are about to change (again), but we’re so excited to Pablo take on his new, big brother role. I’m already emotionally preparing myself to get bumped down to his third favourite person in the family.

I have so loved having our baby puppy in our lives this past year, and I can’t wait to see what’s next. I hope he knows how loved he is. I mean, it’s too bad he can’t actually read any of this, so I guess belly rubs and snuggles will have to do.
