Baby prep: nursery

A small win of social distancing has been that Kane and I have nowhere to be but home, which means we’ve gotten to finally tackle the nursery, which up until now, had been woefully un-ready for a baby’s arrival.

Kane and his mum took on the task of painting the room white—a nice update from the weird, creamy yellow that currently covers our apartment walls. Big thanks to them, since putting shoes on feels a lot like a workout for me these days. Not sure how I could have possibly helped to paint an entire room. I did, however, get to help paint on the fun sprinkles on the ~accent wall~ which was a true dream, ’cause I’ve wanted to take on a fun, painting project since I watched my very first episode of ‘Debbie Travis’ Painted House‘ on W Network YEARS AGO.

We’re not 100% done yet, but I thought I’d share some ~sneak peeks~ of what we’ve got so far. The room is already looking cute as hell, albeit a little cluttered, still.

I’ve been trying not to think too hard about what’s going outside the comfort of our home lately, ’cause I want to be as calm and relaxed as possible when this guy arrives. (According to my doctor, I might still have three weeks to go, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he hangs out a little longer, and that three weeks is enough time for some positive change to occur around this virus and social distancing).

Getting to do something fun and very necessary, like putting his room together, was a welcome distraction and I’m glad Kane and I were afforded the time to get most of it done. It’s also hard to be bummed out when you’re looking at teeny tiny baby clothes and toys.
