Today (as the title of this post suggests) was my first day back teaching, after a glorious couple of weeks off for the holidays.

It’s kind of crazy to think that after this semester is over, I won’t be teaching again until NEXT YEAR. Until then, however, I’m trying to take advantage of the opportunities to “dress up” a little, and wear all of the cute pregnancy outfits I’ve accumulated thus far—minus all the sweatsuits—like this sweater/skirt set situation. The skirt has an elastic waistband, but I swear I said a little prayer as I put it on this morning, ’cause I haven’t worn it since November, so I was nervous that it MIGHT not fit.

All in all, being back was business as usual. However, I did clock some noticeable changes, like how weird it is to act normal and talk to 40 students while your baby practices his jabs and kicks on your ribs. Also, standing for a few hours straight really fucked up my legs and back in a way I haven’t felt since working retail. I wish I could say I am relaxing and lying down right now, but I am trying to stay upright for as long as possible to keep some newly acquired acid reflux at bay. I will spare you all of the details, but I will share that last night was not at all restful, and I slept next to a garbage can which doubled as a “spit bucket.” Gross.
