I’ve just gotten back from the cottage (Thanks, Vanessa!) and oh my goodness, am I ever recharged!
Much to my (sometimes) dismay, I’ve become one of those people who “CANNOT” be without their phone. As I work in social media, and am a freelancer to boot, it’s sometimes hard for me to step away from work, especially since it’s all right there on my phone. This weekend, I committed to leaving my phone indoors**—mainly because I didn’t want it to fall into the lake, and I had a book to keep me occupied—and it was the best decision I could have made.
I say that I’m always stressed (’cause I am), but I have been feeling more stressed and overwhelmed lately, for a number of reasons that I won’t get into, but the timing of this mini getaway was pretty much perfect.
**Okay, so I definitely checked my phone a few times, and I also answered some comments on social media, but for the most part, I was as off the grid, as I could ever realistically be.
“Out of sight, out of mind,” really applied to me this weekend, and it allowed me to actually relax. I read my book, spent as much time in the water as possible, tanned—everything but my stomach, pretty much, thanks to my one-piece bathing suit life, and was just present, which always feel pretentious when I say it, but for lack of a better term, I was present this weekend, and so I was able to just chill.
