When you plan a wedding in FIVE days, figuring out what to wear can be a bit of a challenge.
Quite certain I’ve mentioned this before, but I didn’t have a Pinterest board for wedding inspiration/looks/etc. before Kane and I got engaged. When we started planning our “big wedding,” I stumbled upon a dress online that I instantly fell in love with. Had we gone through with the “big wedding,” I’d probably be ordering it right about now, actually. However, you all know how this story plays out.
When we decided to say, “Fuck it,” and elope, I had exactly four days to figure out what I was going to wear. I’d never thought about outfit options for this scenario, and ordering the dress I originally wanted was out of the question because it wouldn’t ship for about four weeks. The dress I first picked was also chosen with a June wedding in mind, and we were now getting married in April, so it wasn’t even really going to work, weather-wise.
Then I remembered one of my ultimate fashion inspirations—Bianca Jagger.
I can’t remember when I first saw these photos, but I do remember thinking, “I want to wear a suit like that to a big event, like prom or something!” Although I didn’t wear a suit to prom, I did think about wearing a suit as a reception outfit (for dancing purposes).
Not sure I pulled off the look with the glamour of Bianca Jagger, but I tell ya, I felt pretty cool in my wedding suit. I also didn’t intend to wear sneakers that matched Kane’s, but again, with April weather being unpredictable, I didn’t want to wear open-toed heels, just in case it rained or snowed. The one thing I did seriously consider was a hat. I LOVE HATS, and seeing as how I had no intention to wear a veil or anything like that, I felt like a hat would have been wicked.
Unfortunately, I didn’t find a suitable one in time, otherwise, I would have gone for it. I mean, it was our wedding! Why not be a little more extra than usual, right?
